Top Russian senator Matviyenko embarks on official visit to Turkey — upper house

The program of the visit includes meetings with the country's leaders and Turkish parliamentarians

MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko is heading a delegation of Russia’s upper house going to Turkey on February 26-27, a Federation Council spokesperson told reporters.

"The program of the visit includes meetings with the country's leaders and Turkish parliamentarians. Negotiations will take place with the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly (Parliament — TASS) of Turkey by Numan Kurtulmus," the spokesperson said.

The senators are also scheduled to attend a plenary session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT).

The delegation includes Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber's Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov, member of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs, member of the group for cooperation with VNST Nadezhda Ilyina.
