MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin met with Deputy Director General for Strategic at the Israeli Foreign Ministry Meirav Eilon Shahar to discuss the situation in the Middle East with a special focus on the state of affairs in the zone of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The sides exchanged views on regional and international problems that are on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly and that are of mutual interest. Special attention was focused on the situation in the Middle East, first of all, in the zone of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the activities of United Nations agencies, which have corresponding political, humanitarian, and peacekeeping mandates," it said, adding that the meeting was organized at the request from the Israeli side.
