MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. Moscow has provided the Health Ministry of the Democratic Republic of the Congo with a mobile monitoring and diagnostic laboratory as part of efforts to combat dangerous infections, the Russian sanitary watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said in a statement.

"The mobile laboratory, created by Rospotrebnadzor and supplied with Russian-made equipment, will boost the lab infrastructure in the [Democratic] Republic of the Congo, making it possible to promptly provide laboratory diagnostic services for infectious diseases in the country’s remote areas, including the outbreak sites," the statement reads.

According to the watchdog, equipment and test systems for identifying infections that are relevant to the region have been provided to the country in the past two years, and over 60 Congolese specialists have been trained.

"This year, another 50 specialists will undergo training in Russian methods of preventing and responding to infections. In addition, Rospotrebnadzor, together with its Congolese partners, will conduct a series of research projects in Africa, targeting dangerous and endemic infections, as well as diarrheal diseases in children and adults," the statement adds.
