Russia to react to Ukrainian settlement proposals in line with national priorities — MFA

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov highlighted that Vladimir Putin's June 14 comments "by and large did not impose conditions"

MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Russia requires serious and concrete proposals on resolving the Ukrainian conflict, and its response will prioritize national interests, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated.

"We never shy away from negotiations, and President Vladimir Putin has consistently emphasized this. However, we need to evaluate clear and credible proposals when they are presented. Naturally, our decision to respond to such proposals will be guided by national interests, the objectives of the special military operation, and the president’s remarks made on June 14 at the Russian Foreign Ministry," the senior diplomat explained during the 60 Minutes program on Rossiya-1 TV.

Lavrov highlighted that Putin's June 14 comments "by and large did not impose conditions." "They emphasized adhering to commitments that have been reiterated numerous times. Ukraine’s militarization directly breaches the agreement that NATO would not expand eastward or approach Russia’s borders," the foreign minister reiterated. "Upholding obligations under the UN Charter, particularly regarding human rights, including language and religious freedoms—are these conditions? These are fundamental expectations that any respectable member of the global community should fulfill," Lavrov concluded.
