Russia’s newly incorporated regions vital in any potential Ukraine deal — Kremlin

It was earlier reported that the UN secretary-general wanted to see an end to the conflict in line with relevant UN resolutions and with full respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Russia’s four newly incorporated regions must be considered in any potential Ukraine deal, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The geopolitical situation in Ukraine has changed. And you know that it has changed in the Russian Federation as well," Peskov said, when asked to comment on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ position. "The Russian Federation has grown larger with the accession of four new regions. Everybody should take that into account," Peskov emphasized.

Commenting on reports that former US President Donald Trump, if re-elected, would seek territorial concessions from Kiev to end the conflict, the UN chief’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that the secretary-general wants to see an end to the conflict in line with relevant UN resolutions and with full respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

On April 7, The Washington Post reported, citing sources familiar with the situation, that Trump’s proposal consisted of "pushing Ukraine to cede Crimea and the Donbass border region to Russia." Earlier, Trump said that if he won the US presidential election, he could end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours. He did not rule out that Kiev would have to make territorial concessions.

Trump’s adviser Jason Miller later refuted these media reports.
