Western countries attack Russia's electronic election resources — ambassador to US

"Moreover, a number of terrorist attacks and sabotage by Ukrobanderites against the civilian population are not condemned here," Anatoly Antonov said

WASHINGTON, March 16. /TASS/. Hacker attacks on resources for voting online in the Russian presidential election are carried out with the help of Western countries, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said.

"At the same time we have noticed a surge of hacker attacks on remote electronic voting resources - obviously not without the help of Western countries. Moreover, a number of terrorist attacks and sabotage by Ukrobanderites against the civilian population are not condemned here. Is that what the proverbial ideals of the Western democracy are and the global majority must blindly follow?" the Russian embassy quoted Antonov as saying on its Telegram channel.

Earlier, the Chairwoman of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that today the Russian electoral system is experiencing unprecedented hacking attempts, the purpose of which is to disrupt the presidential election. She recalled that during the elections the CEC sites and resources have always been exposed to hacking and cyber attacks, "but what is happening now, this has never happened before."

Voting in the Russian presidential election is taking place over three days on March 15-17. Four candidates vie for the top office, namely New People party nominee Vladislav Davankov; self-nominated candidate and incumbent President Vladimir Putin; Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) nominee Leonid Slutsky; and Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) nominee Nikolay Kharitonov.
