Multipolar world clock 'ticking in right direction', assures Russia’s top diplomat

Sergey Lavrov noted the rapid development of countries such as China, India, Egypt, Brazil

MASSAWA /Eritrea/, January 27. /TASS/. The collective West seeks to reverse the process of a multipolar world emerging, but "the clock of multipolar history is ticking in the right direction," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during his tour of African nations on Friday.

The emergence of a multipolar world is "an objective and unstoppable process," Russia’s top diplomat stressed.

The foreign minister noted the rapid development of countries such as China, India, and the emergence of Turkey, Egypt, Brazil, and other countries in Latin America and the Persian Gulf as influential centers.

The Russian top diplomat recalled that the Angolan president suggested holding a summit of the African Union to determine Africa’s place in the emerging new world order and also highlighted the role of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) embodying the global multipolar system and the interest of particular countries in the quintet.

"So, the clock of multipolar history is ticking in the right direction, despite the attempts by the collective West, the United States, NATO and the EU fully controlled by Washington to reverse this process," the Russian diplomacy boss assured.

"These efforts are in vain. The only thing that they can count on is to somehow slow down the objective course of history," Lavrov maintained.
