Kremlin spokesman refutes CNN claims about another wave of mobilization

When asked whether this report by CNN was untrue, the presidential press secretary replied: "Yes, it is."

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. A report by CNN, suggesting that another wave of mobilization may be carried out in Russia, is untrue, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS, commenting on US media reports that the Russian president was planning to enlist another group of 200,000 people for the special operation.

When asked whether this report by CNN was untrue, the presidential press secretary replied: "Yes, it is."

Unnamed sources in US and Western governmental bodies told CNN earlier that signs of ongoing discussions about another wave of mobilization had allegedly been observed in Russia. According to the report, Russian President Vladimir Putin was considering the possibility of holding another wave of mobilization involving up to 200,000 people, which "would be quieter compared to the first one."

On October 28, 2022, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to President Putin that the partial mobilization campaign, which had kicked off on September 21, 2022, was over. According to Shoigu, 300,000 people were called up and there are no plans for additional tasks in terms of the partial mobilization.

The Russian president personally refuted rumors about a new wave of mobilization late last year.
