Russia opposes using energy to settle political scores — Lavrov

It was mentioned that this practice the EU has been using against the Nord Stream pipelines for years

BALI /Indonesia/, November 15. /TASS/. At the G20, Russia has slammed the weaponization of energy for settling political scores, the country’s top diplomat Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

"We oppose politicizing these issues, primarily using energy for settling political scores, a practice the European Union has been using against the Nord Stream [pipelines] for years," said Lavrov, who attended the summit.

Russia also addressed the gathering with a proposal that "the G20 handle specific issues in order to remove any discriminatory or artificial hurdles on global energy markets and invite energy suppliers and consumers to finally engage in a free and candid dialogue," the Russian foreign minister suggested.
