Moscow can see Europe trading its energy freedom for dependence on US — diplomat

Alexander Grushko thinks that when the former British Prime Minister wrote her `It's done’ message she actually meant Europe’s energy independence rather than the Nord Stream

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Western Europe is committing "energy suicide" and has already traded its freedom in energy for reliance on the United States, said a senior Russian diplomat.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko described as "absolutely indifferent" the reaction by European capitals to the Nord Streams sabotage. In an interview with Zvezda television he said: "Western Europe has decided to commit energy suicide," with that silence being its final stage.

"And I think that when [former British Prime Minister] Liz Truss wrote her `It's done’ message she actually meant Europe’s energy independence rather than the Nord Stream [gas pipeline]. Seriously speaking, we are witnessing how Western Europe has traded its energy freedom for energy reliance on the United States," Grushko said, according to the video recording of his interview posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Telegram channel.
