Russia started preparing for sanctions a year ago — presidential press secretary

Now Russia is in a very tight situation in terms of economy but the economy is still on its feet, Dmitry Peskov noted

LONDON, April 7. /TASS/. Russia has started preparing for the recent sanctions imposed by the West as early as a year ago, press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday on the air with the Sky News TV Channel.

"We have been living under sanctions for a couple of decades and we actually have got accustomed to this situation. We started to prepare ourselves for these sanctions a year ago," Peskov said.

"Now of course we are in a very tight situation in terms of economy but the economy is still on its feet, and we are may be not safe and sound but we are safe in terms of economy, in terms of macro stability. We are even trying to take advantage of the situation, give a boost to develop our productive sector, our national technology and so on and so forth," he added.
