‘Not contributing to negotiations’: Kremlin slams Senate’s move to flood Ukraine with arms

The US Senate on Wednesday approved a bill to supply Ukraine with arms under the lend-lease program in order to make it easier to provide military assistance to Kiev

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. US arms supplies to Ukraine do not contribute to the success of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday, commenting on the US bill to supply Ukraine with arms under the lend-lease program.

"Pumping Ukraine with weapons in various formats does not contribute to success in Russian-Ukrainian negotiations," the Kremlin spokesman pointed out, "Of course, it is more likely to have a negative effect."

The US Senate on Wednesday approved a bill to supply Ukraine with arms under the lend-lease program in order to make it easier to provide military assistance to Kiev. As noted on the website of the upper chamber of Congress, the document, initiated on January 19 by a group of senators led by Republican John Cornyn, was passed unanimously. To become a law, the draft must still be approved by members of the House of Representatives and signed by President Joe Biden.
