Erdogan tells Putin he’d like to continue talks on Ukraine

According to the Turkish president’s office, President Erdogan said that he is in regular contact with the Ukrainian side and other countries

ANKARA, March 6. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and told him he would like to continue contacts with Ukraine and other countries with respect to the situation in Ukraine.

"President Erdogan said that he is in regular contact with the Ukrainian side and other countries," according to a statement from the Turkish president’s office. "He also said that he would continue efforts to conduct extensive negotiations" about Ukraine, the statement said.

On February 24 Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, but aims to demilitarize and denazify the country. Afterward, the US, EU, UK and some other countries said they were imposing sanctions on Russian individuals and legal entities.
