Russia to contribute $3 mln in budget of UN Volunteers program

Russia will use the funds to ensure the participation of Russian volunteers in a respective program of the organization in 2022-2024

MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. Russia will contribute $3 mln to the budget of the United Nations Volunteers program to ensure the participation of Russian volunteers in a respective program of the organization in 2022-2024, according to a decree by the Russian government posted on the official website of regulatory acts on Wednesday.

"To contribute in 2022-2024 using the funds of the federal budget up to $3 mln as a contribution to the budget of the UN Volunteers (UNV) program for financing expenditures related to the implementation of the program of full financing, aimed at ensuring the participation of Russian volunteers in the activities of the UN organizations," the document said.

It is suggested that $1 mln will be earmarked each year over the period. The Russian Foreign Ministry has been instructed to inform the UNV about the decision taken, and jointly with the Finance Ministry to agree the order of transfer and use of funds, as well as ensure financing using budgetary provisions suggested for the foreign service in the budget for international relations and international cooperation.
