MOSCOW, March 22. /TASS/. Investigators have filed a final indictment against 46-year-old US citizen Joseph Tater, who is accused of attacking a police officer in Moscow.
According to the documents obtained by TASS, the supervisory agency approved the indictment and sent the charges to the capital's court.
"Tater Joseph, born on June 30, 1978, a native of the Czech Republic and a citizen of the United States, committed an offense prohibited by criminal law, specifically under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Russian Criminal Code. He engaged in the use of violence, not dangerous to life or health, against an officer during the performance of his official duties," the document states. "The materials of the criminal case will be sent to the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow for further decision," the statement added.
Moscow's Meshchansky District Court has registered the criminal case, and it has been assigned to Judge Oksana Goryunova, according to the relevant court card seen by TASS.
On August 12 of last year, American citizen Joseph Tater arrived at the Radisson Hotel in Moscow, where he violated public order by swearing, behaving aggressively, and engaging in a verbal altercation with staff. They refused to check him in without information about his previous place of residence in Moscow. Although Tater provided the information later, he was denied check-in due to an unsatisfactory reference from his prior residence.
Tater was then detained by police officers at the hotel and taken to the police station, where he refused to present identification documents and harshly grabbed the arm of a female officer.
