MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Russian courts have brought criminal charges against at least nine foreign mercenaries for taking part in the Ukrainian assault into the bordering region of Kursk and crimes against civilians, TASS has calculated based on reports from the Prosecutor’s General Office and the Investigative Committee.
Thus, foreigners have been found guilty of a terrorist attack and mercenary activities, receiving sentences of 14 to 25 years in prison. Eight of them were convicted in absentia and declared wanted. The ninth, British national James Scott Rhys Anderson, arrested in the Kursk Region, was given 19 years behind bars following a court trial.
Four Georgians, two US citizens, one Lithuanian national, one Brit, and one New Zealander are among the convicted foreign mercenaries. Eight sentences were handed down earlier this month, while Jordan O’Brien, a New Zealander, was convicted in absentia in December.
