Turkey makes record-high US LNG purchases from year start

LNG exports declined by 1.4% in monthly terms and gained 14% year on year this February. In total, 128 LNG carriers were dispatched

MOSCOW, April 23. /TASS/. The United States exported 409.2 bln cubic feet (about 11.6 bln cubic meters) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in February 2025, the Department of Energy said in its monthly report.

Turkey set the next record of purchases from the US for the second month in a row, while US LNG deliveries to China remained zero amid the trade war.

LNG exports declined by 1.4% in monthly terms and gained 14% year on year this February. In total, 128 LNG carriers were dispatched.

Main destinations of supplies were Turkey (73.3 bln cubic feet or 2.07 bln cubic meters), the United Kingdom (68.7 bln cubic feet or 1.94 bln cubic meters), France (64.4 bln cubic feet or 1.82 bln cubic meters), the Netherlands (24.8 bln cubic feet or 0.7 bln cubic meters) and Italy (20.7 bln cubic feet or 0.6 bln cubic meters). These countries accounted for 61.6% of all supplies from the US.

The share of deliveries to Asia as part of total US LNG exports increased to 9.75% in February 2025 from 8.4% in January. Shipments to Europe declined to 80.6%.

The United States exported in total about 824 bln cubic meters (23,3 bln cubic meters) of LNG in January - February 2025, which is 9% more year on year.
