"I understand you have just laid out your thesis. You spoke about inflation. Yes, we have inflation. We will tackle it. But we also have high economic growth rates," Putin said when answering a question from a BBC reporter.

"We are fourth globally in purchasing power parity. Please inform your readers about that," Putin stressed. "We are first in Europe, leaving the United Kingdom well behind, which, by the way is not even in the top five," he added.
