ST. PETERSBURG, December 12. /TASS/. The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) plans to build at least a thousand ships over the next decade, including for operations along the Northern Sea Route, CEO of the Almaz Marine Design Bureau (a USC company) Konstantin Golubev said.
"The corporation (USC) faces very ambitious tasks at present - to build at least a thousand ships during the next decade, including vessels for operations on the Northern Sea Route. Despite the fact that we have the largest Arctic fleet at the moment, we still have to build many ships and vessels of various classes and purposes in order to create the comfortable environment in the Arctic and provide for operability of the Northern Sea Route," Golubev noted.
The cutting-edge technologies should be used to solve this task and the complete import phase-out needs to be ensured for the national technological independence, he stressed.
