Own Home in Arctic project in Murmansk Region to be completed ahead of plan

The demand for this support measure has grown by 3.5 times in 2024, and thus the deputy governor considered as reasonable to terminate registering new applications

MURMANSK, April 11. /TASS/. Applications for the Own Home in Arctic program in the Murmansk Region, designed for the entire year 2024, will be completed within April, that is earlier than planned - over four months against the planned 12 months. The regional program, offering incentives to build or buy individual housing, has become very popular, Deputy Governor Alexey Lyzhenkov said.

"The region has allocated 500 million rubles ($5.36 million) for the program in 2024. <...> Since the beginning of this year, 361 certificates have been issued - 474 million rubles ($5.08 million), and we have received applications worth almost 136 million rubles ($1.46 million) - we will consider them shortly," he told the regional government's meeting.

The demand for this support measure has grown by 3.5 times in 2024, and thus the deputy governor considered as reasonable to terminate registering new applications.

Governor Andrey Chibis, however, said the region would continue to accept applications over April, so that those who have prepared necessary papers could formalize their applications. "We can see the program is top popular. The money from the budget has been taken, but I think it would be wrong if we just stoped accepting applications, so let's agree that we will accept applications for another month - until May 1. Depending on received applications, we will decide how much additional money would be needed," the governor said.

Over the program's term (from the summer of 2022), the Murmansk Region's residents have received 984 certificates worth more than 1.2 billion rubles ($13 million). Certificates are issued in priority to medical specialists, teachers, veterans of military actions, participants in the Special Military Operation and their families.
