Qiwi Bank's assets decrease by $43 mln to $746 mln — DIA

As of April 1, Qiwi Bank creditors sent 8,600 claims to the DIA for a total amount of 24.3 billion rubles ($265 mln)

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Qiwi Bank's assets decreased by more than 4 bln rubles ($43 mln) to 68.2 bln rubles ($746 mln), while bank’s liabilities decreased by 548 mln rubles ($5.9 mln) to 43.1 bln rubles ($469 mln), according to a survey conducted by the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA).

"The main reason for the decrease in the value of assets is the revaluation of securities carried out by the temporary administration in accordance with stock exchange quotations on the date of revocation of the license, the additional assessment of accepted credit risks in accordance with the regulations of the Bank of Russia, as well as the additional assessment of other risks and adjustments to the value of assets associated with the revocation of the bank’s license," the DIA says.

As of April 1, Qiwi Bank creditors sent 8,600 claims to the DIA for a total amount of 24.3 billion rubles ($265 mln).

The value of Qiwi Bank's assets and liabilities is calculated as of the date of revocation of the license to carry out banking operations, taking into account the results of a survey by the temporary administration, which is DIA.

License revocation

The Bank of Russia revoked the banking license of Qiwi Bank on February 21. In its decision to revoke the license, the regulator cited high-risk transactions aimed at facilitating settlements between individuals and shadow businesses, including the transfer of funds to crypto exchanges, illegal online casinos, bookmakers, etc., as well as looking for new ways to circumvent the restrictions imposed by the regulator. The regulator stated that it had recorded cases of opening "Qiwi wallets" using the personal data of citizens without their knowledge.

After the license was revoked, the Bank of Russia appointed the DIA as a temporary administration to the bank.
