MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia, together with the government, actively work to solve the problem with international payments, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Wednesday.
"The West continues to do everything possible to limit the Russian economy’s access to the international settlement and payment infrastructure and to global finance to restrain the development of our country. The Bank of Russia is actively working to solve this problem. The government, in turn, provides comprehensive support so that both trade and investment operations of our companies were protected," he said.
Mishustin stressed that "today all payments in Russia work, despite any external pressure."
Earlier on Tuesday, the operator of the national payment system Elkart reported that Russian Mir payment cards will stop working in Kyrgyzstan on April 5 due to US sanctions. "The division of the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions against National Payment Card System, the card operator of the Mir payment system. In order to minimize the risk of secondary sanctions, Interbank Processing Center, as a guarantor of the uninterrupted operation of the national payment system Elkart, announced the cessation of servicing Mir bank cards in its infrastructure from April 5, 2024," the statement said.
