Russia to import tomatoes free of duty until May 31

Customs benefits will apply to imports of medium and large-size tomatoes, except tomatoes of finned, elongated and cherry-shaped form, the document reads

MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The Russian government has canceled customs duties on imports of individual kinds of fresh and chilled tomatoes for supplies up to 100,000 metric tons, according to the Cabinet decree.

The measure is to provide for stable tomatoes prices owing to the increase in supplies in the domestic market. Customs benefits will apply to imports of medium and large-size tomatoes, except tomatoes of finned, elongated and cherry-shaped form, the document reads.

The decree approved rules for distributing volumes and products and regulations for issuing documents required for duty-free import for foreign trade participants.
