Bank of Russia does not hold US treasury bonds

The US Department of the Treasury released data earlier today, whereby Russian investments in US sovereign bonds surged from $31 mln in August to $73 mln in September

MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia does not hold US treasury bonds and does not purchase them, the regulator’s press service told TASS.

"The Bank of Russia does not have US treasury bonds; we do not buy these securities. Only the US Treasury can comment on information about the amount of investments of different countries in these securities," the Central Bank said.

The US Department of the Treasury released data earlier today, whereby Russian investments in US sovereign bonds surged from $31 mln in August to $73 mln in September. The figure stood at $29 mln in July, $33 mln in June, $36 mln in May, $35 mln in April, $77 mln in March, and $75 mln in February.

Long-term US bonds amounted to $61 mln and short-term bonds totaled $12 mln.
