Australia announces another round of export sanctions on Russia

We are talking, among other things, about a ban on the supply of spare parts for tools and electrical machines to Russia

SYDNEY, November 6. /TASS/. Canberra has introduced new sanctions on Moscow, the Australian Department of Home Affairs said in a letter available to TASS.

According to the document, a ban has been introduced on the export of machinery and related parts to Russia. These include "interchangeable tools for hand tools, whether or not power-operated, or for machine-tools (for example, for pressing, stamping, punching, tapping, threading, drilling, boring, broaching, milling, turning or screw driving), including dies for drawing or extruding metal, and rock drilling or earth boring tools."

The ban also applies to "nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances," as well as to "electrical machinery and equipment <...>, sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers."

The Australian authorities earlier imposed tough restrictions on weapons exports to Russia and banned access for Russian banks to Australia's capital markets. A ban was also introduced on the export of goods and services related to the exploration and production of oil, gas and minerals in Russia.

Australia has announced 26 rounds of sanctions on Russia since March 2014. Australia's blacklist includes more than 1,000 Russian individuals and over 300 entities. The country severed all trade relations with Russia, freezing the assets of the blacklisted individuals and banning national companies from doing business with the blacklisted Russian entities.
