Belarusian PM calls on EAEU to establish technological cooperation with friendly countries

According to Roman Golovchenko, full-fledged trade and economic development with China, coupling with large-scale Chinese infrastructure projects fully meet the interests of the EAEU

ALMATY, February 3. /TASS/. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko called on the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to establish technological cooperation with friendly states such as China, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. He was speaking at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on Friday.

"Technological cooperation with foreign countries that are friendly to us is extremely important today. This will allow us to avoid the trap of building the economy of yesterday. China, Vietnam, Iran, Egypt, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, there are enough states in the world that are ready to cooperate with us on the basis of equality and mutual respect," he said.

According to him, for example, full-fledged trade and economic development with China, coupling with large-scale Chinese infrastructure projects fully meet the interests of the EAEU. "The immediate task is to digitalize transport corridors with China and improve cooperation in the sanitary and phytosanitary spheres. All this will facilitate the access of our goods to the Chinese market and, accordingly, counter deliveries," the Prime Minister said.

According to him, as part of cooperation with the SCO and BRICS, "substantive work should be carried out to create promising international transport corridors, such as North-South and West-East."

Golovchenko also stressed that Belarus stands for the development of a full-scale dialogue with Uzbekistan.

"The initiatives of our Uzbek friends to join the Eurasian programs, conclude agreements to remove technical barriers in mutual trade between Uzbekistan and the EAEU should be implemented in the very near future and become a clear example of the union's openness to interaction with other partners in the CIS," he said.
