MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Tourist flow from Russia to Thailand in 2022 soared by more than 14 times compared to 2021, reaching 435,000 people, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported on Friday, citing data from the Moscow office of the tourism authority of Thailand.
"As of the end of 2022, Thailand received 435,008 Russians. That is more than 14 times or 1,314% more than in 2021, when only 30,759 Russians came to Thailand," ATOR said in a statement.
The flow of Russian tourists to Thailand in 2022 recovered by almost 30% compared to the values in 2019 (1.47 million tourists). This year, Thailand aims to restore the volume of Russian tourist flow to 60-65% and receive up to 1 million Russians, the association noted.
In total, 11.2 million foreign tourists visited Thailand in 2022.
Russia ranked ninth in total tourist flow. The most trips during the winter were made in January, when 23,800 Russians visited Thailand. In the spring, the most Russian citizens (9,200) traveled to Thailand in March. The best summer month in terms of tourist flow was August, when 9,200 tourists from Russia stayed in the Asian country. The best autumn month in terms of Russian tourist flow was November (109,400 tourists). In December 2022, Thailand received 183,100 Russians.
