Russian Cabinet approves 8% increase in rail freight tariffs for next year

The Cabinet also approved an extension of the cancellation of the discount rate for railway transportation of coal until the end of 2023

MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. The Russian government approved proposals from the Federal Antimonopoly Services on an 8% increase of rail freight tariffs, with the corresponding decree posted on the web portal of legal information.

"Current tariffs, charges and the fee in respect to freight carriage and provision of services for the use of public rail transport infrastructure in freight transportation is to be adjusted upward by 8% in 2023," the document reads.

The Cabinet also approved an extension of the cancellation of the discount rate for railway transportation of coal until the end of 2023. Rail tariffs for carriage of ore and iron concentrate will surge almost 1.5-fold starting in 2023.
