Russia will refocus oil export to interested countries — Foreign Ministry

It is reported that the European Union introduced the eighth package of sanctions against Russia, including the legislative base to set the price cap for Russian oil

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russia will refocus oil export to countries interested in cooperation after the oil price cap introduction by the European Union, official spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a Thursday briefing.

"Our answer will be the re-orientation of oil exports to countries ready to normally cooperate with us, as the leaders of our nation have reiterated," the diplomat said, commenting on a new EU sanctions package against Russia.

The initiative of the Group of Seven to set an arbitrary oil price cap is a confirmation that the US and the EU are devoid of market economic principles, Zakharova noted. "The hands-on control and the political pressure on all economic operators. A purely geopolitical task to weaken Russia and increase profits of companies, giants and monopolies providing political support and financial participation to political circles in the West became the cornerstone," she added.

The European Union introduced the eighth package of sanctions against Russia, including the legislative base to set the price cap for Russian oil and restrictions of seaborne carriage of Russian crude oil and petroleum products to third countries.
