Setting duties on Russian fertilizers by the US gives rise to concerns — Ambassador

American assurances of being committed to stabilizing the global agro-industrial market have once again turned out to be fiction, Anatoly Antonov pointed out

WASHINGTON, June 24. /TASS/. The decision of the US Department of Commerce to introduce duties for Russian fertilizers gives rise to concerns, Russian Ambassador in the US Anatoly Antonov said on Friday, cited by the press service of the Russian mission in Washington.

"Washington's actions arouse concern for our country, which is interested in strengthening global food security. American assurances of being committed to stabilizing the global agro-industrial market have once again turned out to be fiction," the Ambassador said.

"Russian chemical companies have been and intend to remain trustworthy suppliers of high quality products at competitive prices. We know that our fertilizers are in high demand by farmers in the USA," he added.

"It makes one draw a parallel with anti-Russian sanctions. Western countries are trying to convince the international community that the restrictions do not apply to our agricultural exports. At the same time, the steps are being taken that, at the least, lead to further price increases. As a result, the population and business suffer, including the American one," Antonov noted.
