VLADIVOSTOK, June 21. /TASS/. Construction of the Sakhalin oil and gas industrial park kicked off in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Tuesday, the Governor of the Sakhalin Region said on Tuesday.

"Creation of such an important worksite will give a new impetus to development of Russian oilfield services, which is important for sustainable operations of the oil and gas sector on the whole. The majority of service efforts is currently implemented outside the region. Owing to the park launch, we will be able to increase the localization share of service capacities for offshore and other oil and gas projects by several times. This is particularly important now, in the environment of Western sanctions," Valery Limarenko said.

The first stage of the project is to be commissioned in 2023 and the production and warehousing bases will undergo expansion and upgrade, the governor added.
