Russia preparing June payment offer to bypass Western infrastructure — Minister

Moscow honors its commitments even subject to restrictions introduced by Western states, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov pointed out

MOSCOW, May 30. /TASS/. June payments of the Russian sovereign debt will be offered to investors with the bypass of the Western infrastructure, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in an interview with the CGTN TV Channel.

"We will certainly structure June payments in a different way. We will make offers to holders of our debt on repayments of our obligations with the bypass of the foreign infrastructure. These proposals are being prepared so far. Nevertheless, we will maintain the reliable debtor’s image and honor our commitments even subject to restrictions introduced by Western states," Siluanov said.

Russia is preparing a mechanism enabling ruble payments for the June repayment of the sovereign debt, the Minister said earlier. The refusal of US authorities to extend the license for Russian sovereign debt repayment is a strange and exotic measure, he added.
