MOSCOW, May 29. /TASS/. The Russian government approved rules of subsidizing cargo carriers in the environment of external sanctions. The relevant decree was posted on the web portal of legal information.
The government informed earlier subsidies for cargo airlines to compensation of operating expenses will be up to 2.9 bln rubles ($43.6 mln). The subsidy is intended to help carriers "to refocus the freighter fleet to transportation in interests of Russian customers" and support by the government should help companies to continue their core business, perform aircraft maintenance and repair, insure them and make lease payments.
According to published rules, the airline subsidy will be determined on the basis of the forecast freight turnover in April-October 2022. "The result of the subsidy is provision of freight turnover by Russian air carriers totaling at least 136 mln tonne-km in April - October 2022," the document noted.
