Finland’s railway operator to halt freight traffic with Russia

VR Transpoint, the company’s arm responsible for freight transportation, will prepare the plan to halt traffic, the company said

HELSINKI, April 6. /TASS/. Finland will stop freight railway traffic with Russia, the operator of Finnish railways VR Group said on Wednesday.

"The management board of VR Group made the decision on April 6 regarding the controlled stoppage of eastern [to Russia - TASS] freight service," the company said.

VR Transpoint, the company’s arm responsible for freight transportation, will prepare the plan to halt traffic, the company added.

VR already suspended freight traffic with Russia from March 27 to 30 because of the UK sanctions and resumed them after receiving clarifications from UK authorities.
