SCO secretary-general to take part in high-level security meeting in St. Petersburg

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming will take part in the 12th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues on April 23-25, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said.

"Representatives of the SCO states and the SCO secretary-general will take part in the International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues in St. Petersburg on April 23-25," Rudenko told a roundtable on Kazakhstan's SCO presidency.

"Russia’s concrete contribution to SCO efforts will be its hosting a meeting of the Expert Group on International Information Security in Moscow from April 18-20, as well as a meeting of education ministers," the senior diplomat said.

"Kazakhstan's SCO presidency is now entering a crucial stage. April to June will see a number of high-level meetings and other events that will pave the way for the Astana summit," he said. "We are confident that it [the summit] will be a success, and the Russian side will make all the necessary efforts to achieve this goal together with our Kazakh and other friends," Rudenko added.

The 12th International Meeting of High Representatives will be attended by security chiefs, national security advisers, deputy prime ministers, heads of security and special services, along with representatives of international organizations. The previous conference was held in the Moscow Region on May 23 to 25 of 2023, with 112 delegations from 101 countries taking part.
