MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a 24-year-old Russian woman who was plotting a terrorist attack on a railway in Crimea, the FSB Public Relations Center told TASS.
"The FSB prevented an attempt to carry out a terrorist act in the Crimea Republic. As a result of the service’s actions, a Russian woman born in 1999 was detained. She was preparing to commit a terrorist act by burning an apparatus case of the Crimea Railway in order to disrupt military supplies," the FSB reported.
Self-made incendiary devices and communication equipment, which was used to discuss the planned crime with a Ukrainian coordinator, were seized from the detainee, the FSB noted.
A regional FSB branch for Crimea and Sevastopol filed criminal charges under Russian Criminal Code Article 30, Part 1, and Article 205, Part 1 (Preparation for Terrorist Activity). The involvement of the defendant in high treason is also documented in accordance with Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code.
According to a video of her interrogation disseminated by the FSB, the woman was working for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Main Directorate of Intelligence.
The detainee said that the Ukrainian side initially contacted her via Telegram. After that, they communicated via the Viber messenger. She clarified that her interlocutor presented himself as a Main Directorate of Intelligence officer, later proving this by sending a video of him dressed in a military uniform and holding a Ukrainian flag. According to the detainee, the officer explained that "the main goal was to show that there are some of our people in Crimea." The officer promised the woman that he would register her as a Ukrainian intelligence agent, as well as give her a monetary award of $500-1,000.
