MANDALAY/MYANMAR/, March 31./ TASS/. The main group of the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s rescuers has arrived in Mandalay, the epicenter of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar last week.
The rescuers are setting up a field camp as well as an airmobile hospital to receive those affected by the earthquake, a TASS correspondent reports.
"The camp and the hospital will be set up overnight," said the head of the ministry’s Combined Rescue Team, Sergey Vorontsov. "We will be setting up the field camp all night, " he said, "It’s necessary to ensure the operation of the hospital and the work of our rescuers in our sector."
"Yesterday our group already pulled one injured woman out of the rubble, " he added.
Vorontsov recalled that the first group of 25 Russian rescuers arrived in Mandalay the day before and worked at the earthquake site all night long. The Russian rescuers are equipped with enough gear for two weeks of autonomous work. They have taken the equipment to search for people under the rubble.
