Acting Israeli ambassador says no talks with Moscow about future of Russian bases in Syria

Alexander Ben Zvi stressed that it was up to Russia and Syria to resolve that issue

MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. The Israeli authorities are not in discussions with Moscow on the future of Russia’s bases in Syria as this is a bilateral affair between Moscow and Damascus, Acting Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi told TASS in an interview.

Asked if the Jewish state was in dialogue with Moscow on Russia's future military presence in Syria, he said: "It is up to Russia and Syria to resolve this issue. We are not discussing it with Russia at the bilateral level."

Murhaf Abu Qasra, defense minister in Syria’s transitional government, said earlier that he country’s new authorities were in talks with Russia on the future of its military bases in Syria but nothing concrete had come of this yet.
