Ukraine’s state agencies begin preparations for Zelensky’s election campaign — lawmaker

Meanwhile, opposition-minded legislator Alexander Dubinsky believes that Zelensky has no plans to organize a presidential election in Ukraine but seeks to launch a mechanism that will enable him to stay in power

MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. Ukrainian state institutions have begun preparations for a presidential election campaign, said Verkhovna Rada (parliament) member Alexey Goncharenko (designated as a terrorist and extremist by Russia).

On his Telegram channel, Goncharenko posted a memo that has been circulated among Ukrainian government agencies. "A number of state institutions and companies have received a letter telling them to provide information on their ‘achievements in terms of implementing the Ukrainian president’s election program’," the lawmaker explained. According to him, it’s clear why Vladimir Zelensky needs this information at this specific time: he is preparing for an election.

Meanwhile, opposition-minded legislator Alexander Dubinsky believes that Zelensky has no plans to organize a presidential election in Ukraine but seeks to launch a mechanism that will enable him to stay in power.

Zelensky’s presidential term officially expired on May 20, 2024. Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that Zelensky already lost legitimacy, so it’s crucial to figure out who could represent Kiev in terms of signing legally binding documents. According to Putin, the fact that the current Ukrainian leadership is illegitimate may create a dangerous legal situation, devaluing the results of negotiations.
