US set to hold meeting with Ukraine in Riyadh one day ahead of talks with Russia — media

The Diplomatic website notes that Washington aims to make swift progress to announce a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible

WASHINGTON, March 22. /TASS/. The US technical team plans to meet with Ukrainian representatives in Riyadh on March 23, a day before their scheduled consultations with Russia on Monday, CBS News correspondent Jennifer Jacobs reported on her X page.

"US technical team intends to meet with Ukrainian officials on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ahead of discussions on Monday with the Russians," Jacobs said, citing sources. According to her, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz will not attend the talks in person.

"If progress is made in Riyadh with Russian team, the US technical team may meet again with the Ukrainians' team later Monday," the correspondent pointed out.

The Diplomatic website notes that Washington aims to make swift progress to announce a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible. The article also mentions that the United States hopes to hold a trilateral meeting on Tuesday.

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said earlier that Russian and US experts will hold consultations in Riyadh on March 24. The Russian delegation will be led by Senator Grigory Karasin and adviser to Federal Security Service director Sergey Beseda.

State Department Press Chief Tammy Bruce stated at a regular briefing that the US foreign policy office does not intend to disclose the names of the members of the US delegation traveling to Saudi Arabia for talks with Russia. However, on Thursday, US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg told ABC News that the delegation would include members of his team, representatives from Waltz's team, and the head of the State Department's policy planning staff, Michael Anton.

The delegation is also expected to include Andrew Peek, senior director for European affairs at the White House National Security Council.
