Hungary cautions against rushing security guarantees for Ukraine — Szijjarto

The Hungarian foreign minister also noted that one of the most important issues for future international security is restoring relations between Russia and the United States

ANKARA, March 21. /TASS/. Hungary believes that the peace process in Ukraine should proceed gradually without jumping the gun on providing international security guarantees, said Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

"Let's move forward in this process step by step. Let's sign a ceasefire agreement first, and then hold peace talks to reach an agreement. We need to do the most important thing first, because if we mix everything up, we will lose the chance to advance along the path to peace," he told a press conference, when asked about security guarantees for Ukraine from other states.

Szijjarto also noted that one of the most important issues for future international security is restoring relations between Russia and the United States.

"I hope that an agreement will be reached between Russia and America. If it happens and these two countries can establish normal relations, it will benefit the whole world. Let's hope that no one will interfere with reaching such an agreement," the minister stressed.
