Israel believes Iran won’t be able to defend itself in case of air attack — media

The magazine recalled that Israeli authorities said in April and October 2024 that the country's armed forces destroyed four air defense systems located near key sites in different parts of Iran

PARIS, March 20. /TASS/. Iran no longer possesses any air defense systems and will be unable to defend itself in the event of an Israeli or US attack on its nuclear facilities, France's Le Point reported, citing sources in Israel's diplomatic circles.

"Now Iran has no air defense capabilities remaining, so it cannot defend itself in case of an air strike by Israel or the United States," the magazine's source said.

According to him, Israel faces "threats" from Iran "on a strategic, regional, or terrorist level. At the same time, after Hamas militants attacked Israel in October 2023, "the entire [security] infrastructure that Iran spent years building has crumbled and weakened considerably," the unnamed Israeli diplomat added.

For his part, Le Point's source in Iranian diplomatic circles said that Israel is conducting a "campaign to destabilize" the country. "Israel is trying to create panic in Iran, but our country is not concerned. Israel is a nation much smaller than Iran and has always tried to marginalize us," the source added.

The magazine recalled that Israeli authorities said in April and October 2024 that the country's armed forces destroyed four air defense systems located near key sites in different parts of Iran.

In February, The Wall Street Journal cited a US intelligence assessment that Israel is considering large-scale strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in 2025 to capitalize on Tehran's diminishing strength. According to the newspaper, Israel intends to enlist the support of US President Donald Trump's administration for such strikes.
