Russia, Venezuela to sign strategic alliance agreement, ambassador to Moscow says

Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez made this statement at a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to Simon Bolivar in Moscow, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Venezuela

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Russia and Venezuela will soon sign a pact on strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries, the republic’s Ambassador to Russia, Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez stated.

"For 80 years, Russia and Venezuela have been strengthening their relations and cooperation at an accelerated pace, which has led to the fact that an agreement on cooperation at a high level will be signed soon," the diplomat said at a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to Simon Bolivar in Moscow, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Venezuela.

Moscow and Caracas "share a vision of a multipolar world and oppose unilateralism," the ambassador pointed out. "Our vision also helps the emerging multipolar world, and Russia plays a leading role in this process," he emphasized. "On this special day, we will make even greater efforts to ensure that our ties, bonds of friendship and cooperation continue to flourish for many years and centuries to come."

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko conveyed to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro an invitation to visit Russia in 2025. He also noted that "a strategic partnership and cooperation agreement" between the two countries would be signed during the visit.
