Iran holds consultations with Russia, China on its nuclear program — foreign minister

Abbas Araghchi reiterated that Tehran "will not negotiate under pressure or in a situation where it faces intimidation"

DUBAI, March 10. /TASS/. Iran is currently engaging in consultations with Russia and China to foster confidence regarding its nuclear program, with the aim of achieving the lifting of sanctions, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a statement posted on his page on the social platform X.

"We are actively holding consultations with the European trio Britain, Germany, and France - as well as separately with Russia and China, on an equal footing and based on mutual respect. Our goal is to explore ways to build confidence and enhance transparency concerning our nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of the illegal sanctions imposed on Iran," Araghchi emphasized.

He reiterated that Tehran "will not negotiate under pressure or in a situation where it faces intimidation." According to him, the discussions have nothing to do with "intimidation or diktat." Araghchi asserted that Iran's nuclear program "has always been and will always be exclusively peaceful."

On March 7, US President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social media page that he had sent a message to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, proposing talks about Tehran's nuclear program. In response to Trump's letter, Khamenei stated that Iran would not negotiate with the US, as Washington was primarily concerned with its own interests.
