NEW YORK, February 25. /TASS/. The fighting in Ukraine could stop within a few weeks, French President Emmanuel Macron told the Fox News TV channel.
Responding to a question whether he shared his US counterpart Donald Trump's confidence that the Ukrainian conflict "could really end in a few weeks," he said: "I hope so." According to the French president, "the arrival of President Trump [in the Oval Office] is a game changer." "My concern is that we have to go fast, but we need something first, a truce, which could be assessed and checked," he noted.
"I think it's feasible to have a truce at least and [then] start negotiating for a sustainable peace. But we need something substantial for Ukraine, for the Europeans, and for the security for the US <...>. First, we need a truce. I think it could be done in the weeks to come," Macron concluded.
