BUENOS AIRES, February 20. /TASS/. Brazil does not intend to send its armed forces to Ukraine, but is ready to send a potential peacekeeping contingent after the end of hostilities, said President of the South American Republic Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
"Brazil will not send troops [to Ukraine]. Brazil will only send a peacekeeping mission to negotiate peace," he said at a press conference with Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro.
According to Lula da Silva, Brazil intends to continue contributing to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine through negotiations. "Brazil is ready to do anything [for peace]. This is what we have been fighting for for exactly two years, and Brazil will not change its position," concluded the Brazilian leader.
Lula earlier said that "if Vladimir Zelensky had been smarter, he would have sought a diplomatic solution to the conflict, not a military one." Russia has also repeatedly said that pumping Ukraine with weapons will not reduce Moscow's resolve or change the course of its military operations.
