The arena, which had remained closed for nearly three years, is set to reopen as early as April

STOCKHOLM, February 17. /TASS/. The transaction on acquisition of Helsinki Hall that earlier belonged to Russians by the Finnish real estate investment company Trevian has been officially completed, the Helsinki Times newspaper reported.

According to the publication, the sale was confirmed at a press conference held inside the venue.

"The arena, which had remained closed for nearly three years, is set to reopen as early as April," the newspaper said.

"Trevian announced that it had acquired the controlling shares of Helsinki Halli Oy, finalizing a process that took over two years. The deal, first agreed upon in November 2024, required approval from the Finnish government, the EU, and the Enforcement Authority, which granted the final clearance in early February," the publication specified.

In November 2024, Finnish media reported that the Helsinki Hall arena, owned by Russian businessmen Roman Rotenberg and Gennady Timchenko, who were sanctioned by the EU, was to be sold to investors from Finland, the company Trevian. The deal was to be approved by the EU and the Finnish authorities.

The Helsinki Hall (formerly Hartwall Arena) opened in April 1997. It is a large multi-functional indoor arena. Its total capacity during hockey games is 13,349 people, and during concerts - 15,000. Finnish media previously reported that the Russian owners purchased the arena from Finnish businessman Harri Harkimo in 2013.
