KURSK, November 25. /TASS/. British instructor James Scott Rhys Anderson, who has been captured by Russian forces, says he was forced to participate in the Ukrainian army’s incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region, according to a video available to TASS.
"Commander <...> took my passport, everything, my telephone, and said: ‘Go ahead, man.’ I don’t want to be here," he said in the video.
The captive explained that he had served as a private in a battalion for four months. The training range where the British instructor trained Ukrainian troops was located outside the settlement of Ingultes, near the city of Krivoy Rog. At home, he served in the British Army’s 22 Signal Regiment.
According to the British instructor, he provided basic training to Ukrainian soldiers, particularly teaching them how to shoot and evacuate the injured. He gained these skills in the British Army, where he served as a signalman for four years and participated in recruit training.
Security officials earlier told TASS that a British mercenary had been captured in the Kursk area. In the video, the mercenary states that he served in the British Army’s 22 Signal Regiment from 2019 to 2023. After being discharged, he applied for Ukraine's International Legion, hoping to solve his financial problems.
