IDF verifying Hamas’ allegations about death of Israeli hostage in Gaza

Earlier in the day, Hamas reported the death of an Israeli woman who had been held hostage in the Gaza Strip

TEL AVIV, November 23. /TASS/. Israel cannot either confirm or refute Hamas’ allegations about the death of an Israeli hostage in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

"This evening, the Hamas terrorist organization released footage allegedly showing a hostage who had been killed. We are examining the information, and at this stage, we cannot confirm or refute it," it said. "IDF representatives are in contact with her family and are keeping them updated with all available information."

"Hamas continues to engage in psychological terror and act with extreme brutality," the IDF said and called to refrain from "spreading rumors and information that may harm the families of the hostages."

Earlier in the day, Hamas reported the death of an Israeli woman who had been held hostage in the Gaza Strip. According to Abu Ubaida, spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, there was another woman hostage, whose live is still in danger. He did not say, however, what was the cause of the hostage’s death.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.

According to the latest data from the Israeli side, radicals are still holding 101 hostages.
