Iran’s effort to strengthen ties with Russia led by top leadership — vice president

DUBAI, November 20. /TASS/. Iranian authorities are determined to deepen their relations with Russia, with high-level meetings between officials from both countries advancing their cooperation to new heights, Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said during a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov.

"Iran's commitment to enhancing ties with Russia is driven by the highest authorities. The republic views establishing long-term and broad cooperation with Russia as a top priority," the vice president's press office quoted him as saying. He further highlighted the enormous potential for expanding economic collaboration, particularly in efforts to increase trade between the two nations.

The day prior, Tsivilyov met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Aliabadi. The two sides discussed the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector, as well as explored promising areas for growth in electricity generation, renewable energy, and scientific collaboration in the fuel and energy industries.
